Scope

This tutorial covers the process to set up a POP3 email account in Pegasus Mail for Windows.

For setting up your email account in other email programs, please refer to the Tutorial overview.

Requirements

In order to use your email account with Pegasus, you will need the following information which can be obtained from your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or Web Hosting Provider.
SiriuS clients have received this information in their welcome email. If you lost the information, please contact us and we will resend the required inormation ASAP (SiriuS clients only).

You will need the following information:

• your email address
• your account name (for SiriuS clients that is the same as your full email address)
• your email password
• the incoming mailserver(POP3 or IMAP) address
• the outgoing mailserver (SMTP) address

Setting up your email account

Start Pegasus. Go to Start - All Programs. Locate Pegasus and click it.

Click on File and select Network configuration

In the Internet Mail Options window enter your email address and click on 'Start Setup Wizard'.

In the next window click 'Next'.

In this window you enter your E-Mail Address. [Next]

Enter the address of the incoming (POP3)server. [Next]

Now enter your username (for SiriuS clients that is the full email
address) and your password. [Next]

When your username is the same as your email address you will
see this screen. Ignore it by clicking 'OK'.

In this screen you enter the address of the outgoing mail (SMTP). [Next]

Now Pegasus aks you about your internet connection.
Most likely the right choice will be highlighted.
Unless you have a dial up connection, the right choice will be: 'Network'
(for DSL and cable connections or if you're on a company network). [Next]

We're getting there! Click on 'Finish'.
For many mail providers you're done setting up your email account.
SiriuS clients have to complete the following steps (security settings).

Click on the 'Sending(SMTP) tab and then on 'Edit'.

Click the 'Security tab'.

Check the box for Login to the SMTP server using a
POP3 username/password and click on 'Select'.

Highlight your email address by clicking it and choose 'Select'.

Back in the 'Settings for sending mail (SMTP)' window click on 'OK'.

Once more 'OK' and we're done!
